About Me

Profile pic.jpeg

I am Marcus Lee, a visual storyteller currently studying at Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games, and Animation. Growing up in the concrete jungle of Hong Kong, movies were my escape. Films like Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Indiana Jones filled my imagination with endless wonder. One of my favorite childhood activities was watching the behind-the-scenes videos of Star Wars. The way they used visuals to tell stories absolutely fascinated me.

Over time, visual storytelling became more than just a passion, it became part of who I am. I have explored many ways to tell stories through imagery: acrylic painting, digital art, photography, stop-motion animation, filmmaking, and digital animation. Each medium taught me something new about how visuals can move people.

In 2022, I moved to Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, to further deepen my understanding of visual storytelling. I pursued an Associate Degree in Studio Art at Pasadena City College, where I was first exposed to the world of digital animation and visual effects.

In 2024, I was accepted to Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games and Animation majoring as a CG Generalist in the BFA Digital Production track. During my time at Gnomon, I achieved 2 Best of Term Awards for the Texturing & Shading Category and the Previz Category. As my skills grew, so did my interest in CG Lighting & Compositing.

In 2026, I joined DreamWorks Animation as a Lighting Intern for the Spring 2026 internship. I had the privilege to work with CG Supervisors and the Lighting Team for Shrek 5. I am very honored to be able to learn under the Lighting Team and gain experience in Lighting & Compositing in the animation pipeline at DreamWorks. This experience gave me confidence and motivation to pursue a career in Lighting & Compositing, marking the start of my CG Journey.

This website is a reflection of that journey. It is my 3D storytelling journal, showcasing the artwork I have created during my time at Gnomon. Every piece marks a step forward in my pursuit to tell stories through visuals, and to one day bring a little more magic into the world.
